School of Hospitality
Republic Polytechnic’s School of Hospitality (SOH) is very much connected to industry. Our focus is to make sure you have every opportunity to be plugged into industry.
While facilities are often the focus of many programmes, at SOH our aim is to help you select a better programme and make the right choice for yourself. Facilities is a function of investment, curriculum is a must. The real key is asking what makes a good hospitality programme. Like any business or industry, who you work with makes a difference.
At SOH, who teaches you makes all the difference. Our staff on average has 14 years of industry experience. They have risen to positions of policy making and have been at the ground. They know the business. They used to live and breathe the business. Click here to see their profiles.
You the student must ask these questions,
Who is teaching me?
Is my teacher’s experience really solid and sound?
Where will I study? Is any part of my programme outsourced?
What will I learn?
Is it Hospitality based or general business based with just a few hospitality subjects?
What are my options after graduation?
The list of questions goes on. Visit the school to ask questions, see where you will be learning your skills. Be informed, and make informed choices.
The Hospitality industry is broad, yet focused. Broad in the sense, it covers many businesses, providing opportunities for many of us. Focused in the sense that, it zeroes in on aspects of the business that impacts sales and revenue, in short, the success of businesses. Our graduates go on to work for hospitality companies spanning hotels, MICE, events management, airlines, franchising-management agreement companies, listed companies, for entrepreneurs, and as entrepreneurs as well. They also go on to NUS, NTU, SMU and the many universities overseas for their further studies.
The skills learnt within our programmes are transferable and sought after given the need for greater customer and client management. The need to build strong customer and client bases for maximum yield and revenue management. The days of merely providing service is a thing of the past. It’s about being profitable, being on the leading edge, being attuned to innovation, increasing output and overall a better outcome for stakeholders.
