Welcome to the School of Sports, Health and Leisure (SHL) at the Republic Polytechnic, where dedicated professionals meet talented and passionate youth!

You may have heard of the sporting achievements of Nurul Shafinas Bte Abdul Rahman, a Taekwondo bronze medallist at the Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) 2010; or that of our 2009 graduate Shayna Ng Lin Zhi, a silver medalist in the Women Singles Bowling at the recent Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games; and, the prestigious achievements of Yip Pin Xiu, Swimming gold medalist at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics as well as the Singapore Youth Award 2010 (Sports & Adventure) recipient.

Add to this pool of talent, the strength and diversity of our faculty who hail from industry, academic institutions, non-government agencies and statutory boards and you’ll get an experience of a lifetime. At SHL, dreams come alive and we will endeavour to serve you to the best of our abilities.

The demand for highly competent health and exercise leaders to promote active ageing, corporate wellness and to combat youth obesity in Singapore is ever growing. The Diploma in Health, Management and Promotion will help to address this need. Singapore is also fast gaining a reputation as a centre for world-class healthcare services, pharmaceutics and biomedical research. Our fifth and newest Diploma in Healthcare Administration seeks to fulfill the operations and administrative manpower needs of the growing healthcare industry.

With the implementation of programmes for active learning by the Ministry of Education, schools are in need of proficient and qualified outdoor educators to support such programmes. The Diploma in Outdoor Adventure Learning will help you fulfill your aspirations to be an allied educator in schools or enable you to provide outdoor education programmes and services.

Having hosted the Youth Olympic Games in August 2010, and as well, the third Formula One Grand Prix, anyone interested in sports, clubs and events management should leap into the Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management. With the commencement of the building of a state-of-the-art Sports Hub with the Sports Institute in it, the Diploma in Sports Sciences will equip you with the knowledge and competency to work with athletes to enhance their performances.

Our graduates, today, have embarked on careers as sports administrators, allied educators, events organisers, outdoor service providers and research assistants. They also pursue their higher education at reputable universities, both locally and in overseas Universities in Australia and the United Kingdom. Amongst our SHL graduates, some have fast-tracked into the third year programme at Northumbria University, University of Queensland and University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Chloe Chong (Graduate 2009, Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management) have graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sport Management from Northumbria University.
