Most students rely, at least in part, on savings and parental help to finance
their tertiary education. Other common sources of funding come in the form
of scholarships, bursaries, loans and grants.
For students with outstanding academic results, strong leadership potential
and excellent track records in co-curricula activities and/or community
service, a host of attractive scholarships and awards are available. These
scholarships/sponsorships are awarded by the universities, corporations,
the government or other relevant bodies.
Universities also administer financial assistance schemes which provide relief in the form of loans and bursaries for undergraduates for their tuition fees and/or living expenses. Students are reminded that these loans are typically soft, with more favourable terms interest rates and repayment periods than those available in the market (i.e. from banks and other financial institutions).
