All students will have an email account through RP that will be their official point of contact. All communications by the Polytechnic administration to students will be via the official email account. As such, students are expected to check this account regularly. Students are also expected to be aware of the latest notices/circulars that may be announced via the student intranet or email.
Throughout their candidature, students are responsible for keeping their personal particulars (including official/legal name, permanent and correspondence contact details) updated in the Polytechnic’s records in a timely manner. The Polytechnic will not be accountable for delayed or lost mail due to incorrect or obsolete students’ addresses and contacts. Students may check their particulars via OASIS.
For changes on particulars, students are to write in to Help-Registrar@rp.edu.sg with their supporting document or submit a Change of Particulars form through the E-Svc: Students link at http://www.rp.edu.sg/Change_of_Particulars.aspx together with the appropriate supporting document to One Stop Centre.
Students should also update the details and particulars of their parents/legal guardians/next-of-kin (NOK). In the event of an emergency, accident, or otherwise, the Polytechnic will make every reasonable effort to contact the parents/legal guardians/NOK. It is also the student’s responsibility to keep their parents/legal guardians/NOK informed so as to help alleviate their concerns over the student’s safety and security.
Students must ensure that their name is correctly reflected in the OASIS Student Centre as this shall be the official name that will be printed on their Diploma Certificate and Academic Transcript. If there is any change to your name, please email a copy of your NRIC and deed poll which reflects your new name, to firstname.lastname@example.org to assist us in validating your request.
RP undertakes to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal information. Your personal data collected by RP will primarily be used for student academic and administrative processing and records. In addition, your personal information may be used/disclosed for RP-authorised purposes; which may include evaluative purposes, government policy-making purposes, or as required by any law or by the order of a court.
In order to support these purposes, RP may use or disclose your information to other public service agencies^, RP-appointed agents and your parents/legal guardians. By providing your information, RP deems that you have given consent for RP to collect, use, share and disclose your personal data for RP-authorised purposes.
^ A public service agency refers to any Government agency or statutory board, or its authorised agent.
All information contained in this Student Handbook is valid and will be in force till the end of Academic Year 2014 Semester 1.
