RP Student Publishes Science-Fiction Book!

Singapore, 13 June 2012 – So deep was Republic Polytechnic (RP) final-year Diploma in Environmental Science (R29) student Jervis Tan interest in astronomy, cosmology and space exploration that he recently produced a novel, "Dusk: Galactic Paradise" as a way to share his interests with others.

He drew inspiration for his book from many authors such as the author of the Harry Potter series, J.K Rowling and Star Wars creator George Lucas. Jervis spent a staggering 20 months to complete his book.

Not only did Jervis took a long time to produce his book, he faced many road blocks along the way; "The entire process was extremely tedious and troublesome, as I was frequently bombarded with writer's block every moment I sit down just to write something."

Even though the road was long and hard, Jervis persevered and never gave up on his writing, two qualities developed from his training in Republic Poly.
He said, "To ensure that my novel can be completed despite these difficult processes, I usually sit down and write whenever I am free, such as during the holidays and in the morning before school starts. It doesn't matter how slow I go, so long as I do not stop." Jervis explained.

When asked about what he hopes to achieve the future, Jervis said " I am looking forward to publish my second and third novels in the Dusk series, reap high sales from my books and possibly be a physics teacher."
