RP Students Sweep Four Medals at WorldSkills Singapore 2012
Singapore, 5 July 2012 - Four Republic Polytechnic (RP) students have done Republic Poly proud by clinching four medals in the 10th WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) 2012 competition. The competition held from 5 to 7 July 2012 at the Institute for Technical Education (ITE) College West was attended by Guest of Honour, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Tharman Shanmugaratnam and other dignitaries from various educational institutions and industries.

Diploma in Restaurant and Culinary Operations (DRCO) (R46) student Guo Mei Ling clinched silver in the Restaurant Service category while Diploma in Aerospace Avionics (DAA) (R20) students Huang Yaomin, Andrew Yong and Ong Kang Yu swept three medals in the Information Network Cabling category. Huang Yaomin, Andrew Yong and Ong Kang Yu won the Medallion for Excellence, silver and gold medals respectively.
For winning the gold medal, Ong Kang Yu will be going to Leipzig in Germany and will represent Singapore in 2013 to compete in the 42nd WSS International 2013!
RP would like to congratulate and commend all participants for months of grueling training, time and effort invested to compete in WSS 2012.

In addition, the collective efforts put in by all the finalists, participants and coaches were duly recognized in a ceremony where Deputy Principal for Industry Services (DPIS) Mr Seto Lok Yin presented all students with a certificate of appreciation on 25 July 2012!
