     TMC 2017

    The Media Challenge 2017
The Media Challenge (TMC), organised by Republic Polytechnic’s School of Management and Communication, is an annual outreach event that engages secondary school students who are interested in mass communication.

For The Media Challenge (TMC) 2017, participating students will compete to come up with a news package that consists of an article with captioned photos and a short video for the digital media platform. In addition, students will be tasked to promote their news package on various social media platforms.

    1.      Teams will be assessed on their creativity, planning, story angling, writing and editing skills against one another within a set timeframe, making this a meaningful and fun project.

    2.      Participants of the challenge will have the chance to go out on research assignments, and get hands-on workshops and tips from media industry practitioners and lecturers from the Diploma in Mass Communication

    3.      Teams will be guided by DMC’s lecturer and student mentors as they embark on their journey to put together their news package and promotional ideas. All teams’ packages will be judged by industry experts, and awards and prizes will be presented to the best teams.

    4.      Following from the popularity of the “Challengers’ Choice” from TMC 2016, this year’s challenge will continue to include the popular choice component where teams will be given a chance to vote for their favourite news package.
