Information & Notes on Withdrawal/Deferment of Study
* Updated for AY2012
Deferment or Withdrawal applications received during the course of study in a semester will only be accepted and processed when the applications together with the appropriate supporting documents are received not later than the 1st school day of week 13 in a semester.
Applications received after the 1st school day of week 13 in a semester and before the release of the semester results will NOT be processed until the semestral results are released to students. As such, a student who submits his withdrawal or deferment application during this period will be considered to be an enrolled student of Republic Polytechnic (RP) and is subjected to the rules, regulations and policies of the polytechnic, including RP’s Dismissal Policy.
Students who intend to withdraw from or defer their studies are to ensure that all their outstanding fees, fines and loans are settled before they apply for withdrawal or deferment through the Student Clearance System. The system can be accessed through "E-services: Students" under "Student Withdrawal/ Deferment" (http://myrp/scs/). Applications for withdrawal or deferment will be processed after all outstanding dues are settled. All current school rules will still apply until full approval of the application is obtained. As such, the typical processing time until full approval is obtained may take between 2 to 4 weeks, subject to the clearance of all outstanding items by the respective departments in RP.
Existing and newly enrolled students intending to withdraw or defer from their course of study MUST submit an online withdrawal or deferment application to the Polytechnic. Following which, students who are under the age of 21 are required to printout a hardcopy of the withdrawal or deferment form, obtain their parent’s signature on the hardcopy form, and submit the signed hardcopy form at the One-Stop Centre (OSC). Do note that withdrawal or deferment applications made via the phone will not be accepted.
Absence from class does not constitute to withdrawal from the course of study. The student is still considered as an enrolled student of the Polytechnic and is liable to pay the school fees until a withdrawal application is officially submitted to the Polytechnic.
