Eighteen Diploma in Mass Communication (DMC) students were involved in the All In! Young Writers’ Festival 2016 organised by the National Book Development Council of Singapore. The two-day event, which was held at the National Library Building, witnessed the largest number of participants in the festival’s eight-year history. There were over 300 participants who had signed up for the Festival, which gave young writers the opportunity to interact and engage professionals in relevant writing industries. Our students were involved in the festivals publicity and event coverage initiatives – the first time the Book Council has partnered an external organisation to explore in-depth the use of social media integration and content management for the Festival.Four students produced four news stories based on the sessions they covered. These news stories were delivered to the organiser within the day of the event and our students learnt to work under intense deadline pressure. The pieces are now on the festival’s website.· Round-Up: http://all-in.bookcouncil.sg/2016/page/147· Film Writing: http://all-in.bookcouncil.sg/2016/page/148· Narratives in Games: http://all-in.bookcouncil.sg/2016/page/149· Journalism: http://all-in.bookcouncil.sg/2016/page/150 The Book Council will be submitting the students’ articles to its media partners Youth.sg (https://www.youth.sg/) and online magazine Parallel Ink (http://parallelink.tumblr.com/) for the articles to be published on other platforms.
