RP Corporate Video

Singapore's fifth Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic (RP), opens its doors to students in 2003. A Polytechnic with a difference. At RP, students do not attend lectures and tutorials. Instead, they carry laptops and solve problems everyday. RP believes that there is a need to shift from teaching to learning.

RP adopts the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach and taps on technologies that will deliver the best learning experience for her students. One of the distinguishing features of RP's education system is the unique adaptation of PBL which promotes self learning and discovery through analysing, understanding and solving open-ended 'real world' problems. By solving problems with support from facilitators, students actively organise and direct their personal learning process fostering the development of problem solving, self-directed learning, knowledge construction and communication skills.
