Admission (Non-Singapore Academic Qualifications) AY2009

Applicants must submit their application forms online, together with scanned copies of the required documents (Academic qualifications, passport/ID, IELTS test report form), by 9 February 2009*. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered for admission.

Applicants who are planning to sit for their IELTS should register for their examination by 26 January 2009 (at the latest) as the IELTS exam scores are usually released within 2 weeks from the date of the test.

*Please note that the closing date has been revised in the admissions schedule for 2009. Students are advised to browse through the admissions webpage for the latest information.

Applications are invited from prospective students with non-Singapore academic qualifications for admission to diploma programmes commencing in April 2009.

Applicants are requested to take note of the recognized academic qualifications listed below, as applicable.

Malaysia

 

a) Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)

SPM / SPMV

  • Bahasa Inggeris (Paper 122/322) or Communications English   [Grade: A1 – C6 ]

  • Overall score based on 7 subjects should be at least 46

 

Applicants with good SMU2 (Completed Year 11) results may apply and will be considered accordingly.

 

 

3) China

 

a) National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) (Gao Kao)

  • Eligible for admission to Tier 2 China universities
  • English: 60%
  • Mathematics and relevant subject: 65%

Applicants with good completed (Senior High School) Year 11 results may apply and will be considered accordingly.

 

 

4) India

 

Secondary School Certificate (Year 10) from:

  • The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (IS CE )
  • The Central Board of Secondary Education Examinations (CBSE)
  • Maharashtra State Board
  • Kerala Board
  • Gujarat Board
  • Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination
  • Board of Anglo-Indian School Leaving Certificate Examination, Tamil Nadu. Otherwise, the Senior Scholl Certificate (Year 12 is required)

Secondary School Certificate (Year 10)

  • English: 70%
  • Mathematics and relevant subject: 80%
  • Overall score for 5 subjects should be at least 80%

Senior School Certificate (Year 12)

  • English: 70%
  • Mathematics and relevant subject: 75%
  • Overall score for 5 subjects should be at least 70%

5) Sri Lanka

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

*No entrance assessment or IELTS is required for applicants with IB qualifications.   

(IB) Diploma

  • English: 5 out of 7
  • Mathematics: 5 out of 7
  • Any relevant Science subject: 5 out of 7
  • Overall score based on 5 subjects should be at least 25

 

 

In addition to the above listed academic qualifications, you may also apply if you possess other qualifications (such as Government-administered Secondary School/High School examinations) that are equivalent to the Singapore- Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Levels.

Applicants using non-Singapore qualifications to apply for admissions to Republic Polytechnic fall under the category of “DAE (Foreign)”. Applicants must submit their applications online.

Important Information

  • Applicants with a minimum score of overall band score of International English Language Testing System ( IELTS) 5.0 are preferred. However, the scores do not automatically exempt a shortlisted candidate from the entrance assessment. For more information on IELTS, click here.
