| Human Resources Our Quality Journey |
Just as technology drives the academic delivery at RP, technology too, plays a central role in our administration. We utilise technology to the hilt with the objective of simplifying workflow, streamlining processes, and enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Almost 100% of our processes are electronic, geared towards enabling a culture of total openness and knowledge sharing. In a bold move towards embracing digital technology, all academic and administrative staff have been issued with tablet PCs or laptops. The PCs’ digital handwriting capability provides a powerful medium for facilitators to interact with students, replacing the traditional whiteboards. In administration, the tablet PCs accept digital signatures and handwritten text over existing digital content, making obsolete traditional paper forms and documents.
While email is the preferred tool for most office work, at RP, we bring the usage of email to a new level. Email is being extended to other functions to maximise its advantages, such as resource booking, calendar, staff suggestions, helpdesk and knowledge management. All structured data like staff and student records have been consolidated into a common RPDB (RP database) with sorting and search features for easy access and organisation. We eliminate the need for physical cabinets by relying on e-filing and e-cabinets. Within a year, we have managed to put online virtually all of our key business processes, including direct admissions, e-payment, e-matriculation, enrolment, student administration and student learning activities. During the year, we continued to promote the usage of IT within RP by offering extensive IT training. In recognition of those who contribute to this IT-savvy culture, we gave away the IT SPIRIT Awards both at the individual and departmental levels. |
