RP Orientation Programme 2009
This year’s Orientation Programme was held over three days from 15th – 17th April. 4000 Year One students were initiated into Team Republic and their respective schools’ and centres’ culture by engaging actively in different activities.
During the orientation, the students were grouped into their respective colour-coded home bases around the campus. Over the course of the 3days, teams were encouraged to chalk up points for their schools and centres in the respective segments: 40 games stations, Tug-of-War, Photo Blog contest, Domino Ripple, Mascot Presentation and Team Republic Echo to win the coveted Principal’s Cup.
Day two saw a special tug-of-war show-down by the Senior Management team. Led by our Principal/CEO, Mr Yeo Li Pheow, the Senior Mangement team were pitted against the winners of the Schools and Centres. And with sheer team work and determination, the senior management won the two matches – once against the Champions, SHL and another with the Student Leaders.
Day three of the orientation programme provided the students with classroom simulation led by the student leaders,. During the classroom sessions, the first year students learnt more about the LEO system and also what to expect during their break-out/discussion sessions etc. This helped them to better prepare them for their first day in school.
On the third and final day of the orientation program, Team Republic came together as one to form Domino RiPple.Teams from the different schools and centres had to come up with creative ideas on how to showcase their flashcards in the most synchronized fashion.
Orientation Programme 2009 cumulated in a final presentation where the teams presented their mascots and Team Republic echo. There was also a series of high energy performances lined up by the Create Interest Groups for Jam n Hop. Once again, congratulations to winner of the Principal’s Cup, SAS; runner-up, SHL and 2nd runner-up, SOH.
Welcome to Team Republic, our Year Ones, and have a good 3-year experience with us!
