Han Ying obtained his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from Cambridge University, UK studying physics. During his studies, he was awarded the British High Commissioners’ Awards. Upon the completion of his degree, Han Ying continued to do a Masters of Science in astrophysics with Queen Mary & Westfield College in London. Deepening his research in the field of astrophysics, Han Ying completed his doctorate at University of Edinburgh where he was awarded a Lee Foundation Scholarship from Singapore. During that time, he also amassed experience in teaching undergraduate students at the aforementioned institution.
In the following four years, Han Ying worked as a software engineer in UK in a company specialising in DSP (Digital Signal Processing) before finally joining The Republic as an academic staff.
Han Ying is a keen badminton player. He represented all three universities in this sport and was awarded a sports bursary from Edinburgh University during his PhD course. He is also particularly passionate about playing piano and classical music. His other hobbies include magic performance, reading, chess, and going to cinema and concerts.
His objective at The Republic is to inspire the students into being all-rounded persons, able to cope and excel fully in the real world upon graduation.
