- The Senior Academic/Academic Staff will undertake curriculum development and delivery of diploma related modules, and should have strong and relevant experience in one or more of the following subject areas:
- Software development and programming such as PHP, Python, Java, MySQL / SQL, Android and Objective C etc.
- Support / development / consultancy of IT application systems in hospitals, hotels, banks, retail and logistics businesses. Practical knowledge of SAP systems is advantageous
- Support / development / consultancy of IT application systems in the area of business process modelling, human resource, business intelligence/analytics, sales and marketing. Practical knowledge of PeopleSoft HR, Salesforce.com or SAS is advantageous
- IT Service Management such as ITIL (IT Infrastructure library), Service Delivery, Service Operations and Support
- Interactive digital media such as Multimedia / Games Design and Development, 3D Animation, Digital Audio and Video pre- and post-production, new media communication
- IT security such as Intrusion Detection Systems, Network Security, Digital Forensics, and IT Governance including Business Continuity Technologies
- Networking such as Cisco networking infrastructure design and support, Cloud computing technologies & implementation, server virtualisation, Red Hat Linux Networking and Security Administration
- Experience and interest in conducting industry research/ development and consultancy projects
In addition to facilitation and curriculum development, senior academic staff/academic staff may also be required to undertake technology development and applied research in one of the following areas:
- Mobile apps development
- Open source
- IT security
- Cloud computing
The Academic Associate position is a part-time teaching position where the academic associate will facilitate student learning in the above subject areas.
Job Requirements
- Good degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software/Computer Engineering, Multimedia Design, Fine Arts, Mass Communications or relevant disciplines
- Deep interest in the areas of IT, business information systems and digital media technology and/or the use of IT in business and organisations
- Preferably relevant work and/or R&D experience
- Commitment to lifelong learning and intellectual growth
Research Engineer (Computer Vision)
We are a funded research group in the School of Infocomm, currently working on developing innovative early intervention computer based solutions for children with special needs by leveraging advanced multi-touch and computer vision technology.
Successful candidate will be involved in design and development of the intervention solutions and will make a significant contribution to the R&D of advanced 3D gestural & facial interaction techniques, and other forms of computer vision User Interface (UI) for enabling children with special needs to intuitively manipulate objects within the developed intervention solution.
The potential candidate will be required to prepare progress reports and work under tight deadlines. He/She will also assist in technology scanning to remain abreast of the most current technologies and processes, and is expected to play an active role in developing proposals for grants to support further research.
The applicant should bring passion, creativity and vision to the project and be able to work independently, or as part of a small team. The ability to learn rapidly and a willingness to explore are essential. We are looking for a range of abilities. The successful candidate will be placed on a 2-year contract.
Job Responsibilities

Job Requirements
- A Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- At least 1 to 2 years project hands-on experience in software development relating to one or more of the following computer vision field: pattern recognition, machine learning, tracking, human face and gesture, body recognition, eye tracking and surveillance
- Programming experience with C++, Java and Python
- Past programming projects using open source computer vision libraries (Open CV) is essential
- Prior experience with 3D sensors like Kinect is a plus
- Possess strong analytical skills and high level of enthusiasm
- Able to work hands-on with minimal supervision or assistance
- Fresh graduates with good experience are welcomed to apply

Research Engineer
Job Responsibilities
- We are looking for a capable and responsible individual to work on an R&D project for digital media censorship and classification system
- You will take on an active role in designing, developing and integrating software to manage digital media
- You will work closely with senior staff in developing new and innovative technologies to bowdlerise, rate and classify digital media
- You will also be involved in designing and developing software modules for system prototyping
- You should possess good oral and written skills along with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work effectively in a team environment
The successful candidate will be placed on a 2-year contract.
Job Requirements
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree with 2nd Upper Honours in Computer Science, Computing or Computer Engineering
- Strong understanding of a wide variety of computer science topics including, but not limited to any of the following: computer algorithms, operating system, distributed/parallel system and concurrency, security, and software developments
- Demonstrated skills in C/C++ and/or Python programming, with good knowledge of Linux and Windows server technologies
- Familiar with various multimedia file formats, such as AVI, WMV, MPEG, QuickTime, Mpeg-4, etc
- Some experience and knowledge in data storage technologies, kernel internals and computer architecture will be beneficial
- Able to communicate in good spoken and written English, and a good team player.
- Highly self-motivated and willing to learn new technology
