Capability Development
RP sees Capability Development as being an essential partner to the personal development offered to staff through their structured training and learning programmes.

There are two main routes through which staff can pursue Capability Development:
R&D in Technology development Centres
In addition to facilitation and curriculum development, all members of academic staff are strongly encouraged to undertake some applied research and development as part of their personal Capability Development.

To facilitate this, we have set up Technology Development Centres (TDCs) within the Schools and Centres to focus on specific areas of research. The TDCs provide the focal point for RP’s staff to keep abreast of the latest developments in the industry through their participation in collaborative projects with companies.

The TDCs also serve as a magnet to draw industries into the campus, creating a virtuous cycle of innovation and active learning for our staff and students.

Industry Associate Scheme
Industry Associate Scheme (IAS) is intended to allow our academic staff to be associated with the industry in a systematic, coordinated and sustainable way so that the experience that is gathered through their association with established professionals in the industry would augment the problem-based learning education pedagogy at RP.

Whether it is be in performing consultancy, design, contract services or other forms of collaboration, this scheme allows our staff to create highly relevant curricula, stay at the cutting edge of technological trends as well as upgrade their knowledge continuously.

The industry benefits from the engagement in that they can tap on the staff expertise to pursue collaborative work in relevant areas
