School of Applied Science (SAS)

Science has unlocked the secrets of the atom, painted nature in a rational light and unravelled the mystery of DNA, the molecule of life. Advancements in the understanding of life processes and the smart applications of biology and materials are transforming people from being passive observers to choreographers of nature.

The world is on the threshold of a shift from an age of discovery to an age of mastery.

Applied Science is the practice of using science in the industry. It integrates scientific, technological and medical knowledge to solve the problems of society and improve lives.

However far we have come, the sciences still offer many wonders to be discovered.
Learn science to find out about life, understand the world we live in, and be equipped to create solutions for the enhancement of life as we know it.

What Is Offered?

SAS currently offers the following diploma and post-diploma programmes:

Diploma Programmes
  • Diploma in Biomedical Sciences (DBMS)
  • Diploma in Biotechnology (DBIO)
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPHM)
  • Diploma in Materials Science (DMTS)
  • Diploma in Environmental Science (DENV)
Post-Diploma Programmes

What Does SAS Do?

At our School, we hope to impart to you some of wonder and curiosity we feel about the world. We provide rigorous training in scientific methods and encourage the development of scientific thinking. That aside, the skills you learn here can be extended into industry and be the starting point of further education.

Besides providing a firm foundation in the various technologies, we will help you think about the social and ethical issues that science faces.

At the end of your time with us, you will take away the ability to think critically, thoroughly and sensitively about the implications of the sciences to society. You will also be able to extend those thoughts to other areas of science which you may encounter in the future.

Industry Connections

Our school actively seeks to remain at the forefront of the industry. Not only do we partner key companies in the development of curricula and facilities, our academic staff serve as company associates, to remain at the cutting edge of their fields.

Joint research and development projects with industry drivers also promise a wealth of experience and contacts to both our staff and students.
