Diploma in Communication and Information Design (R32)

About the Programme

The rapid proliferation of sophisticated communication media and devices is dictating the way people process information. This impacts the way ideas and information are communicated to an increasingly diverse audience, hence the need for communication professionals who are proficient in communication and information design.

The DCID differentiates itself from the other diploma programmes with its strong emphasis on communication theories and practice. It aims to develop sound communication skills - good writing in particular - which is the hallmark of a competent communications graduate. In addition, DCID graduates will be both skilled and strategic communicators. They will not only be able to produce good quality work but also effectively contribute to a company’s business goals. The emphasis on cross-cultural communication prepares students to interact and communicate in a borderless global society.

Programme Objectives

The DCID aims to produce graduates who are not only able to relay technical information with clarity and finesse, but also media and technology savvy.

The diploma programme is designed to develop individuals who are:

  • proficient and confident communicators in both local and cross-cultural contexts,
  • able to work with new and emerging media as well as traditional media, and
  • equipped with basic media management skills.

The diploma also paves the way for graduates to pursue degrees in Mass Communication and Media Studies.

Career Prospects
Graduates can look forward to contributing to Singapore's Media and Technology industries as print journalists, public relations executives, junior advertising executives and copy editors.
