Advanced Diploma in Pharmacy Practice

Pathway for RP Students
The Advanced Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (ADPP) is a programme to prepare students for a career in pharmacy practice. The ADPP is offered to students in RP’s Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPHM) or equivalent programme.

The information given here is for students currently enrolled or intending to enrol in RP’s DPHM programme. It sets out an accelerated pathway which can be taken in order to complete the ADPP in three years at RP, so as to obtain both the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPHM) and the Advanced Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (ADPP).

Requirements for DPHM

In order to qualify for the ADPP, students will need to:
  • take the following prerequisite modules, which includes the following four modules:
    • A233 Pharmacology and Toxicology
    • A371 Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacy Practice
    • A372 Pharmaceutical Legislation and Marketing
    • A373 Pharmaceutics
  • obtain a GPA of 3.00 or better for the DPHM
Requirements for ADPP

All ADPP students need to take the four compulsory modules in the ADPP, which are:
  • A474 Pharmaceutical Retail and Merchandising
  • A475 Good Dispensing Practice
  • A476 Pharmaceutical Compounding
  • A477 Clinical Skills in Pharmacy Practice
Accelerated Scheme

Students with sufficiently good grades may be allowed to take the accelerated scheme, which means they can complete the ADPP in three years at RP. To do so, students must take the prerequisite modules and take all four ADPP modules in their third year.

In addition, it is advisable for all RP students to complete the following two non-classroom modules prior to enrolling for the ADPP:
  • G901 Creative Engagement
  • G902 Professional Profile
ADPP students will be advised to plan their activities so as to complete these two non-classroom modules by the end of their second year.

In order for students to graduate with a DPHM and ADPP in 3 years, the ADPP modules are delivered during the vacation period. As such, SAS staff will assist ADPP students to work on their G301 and G302 project modules during the Semester period.
