Diploma in Digital Entertainment Electronics (R38)

About the Programme

In the past few years, the global electronics industry experienced good growth, fuelled by strong demand for digital entertainment gadgets, mobile devices and consumer electronics products. The Asian region also demonstrated increasing demand for digital and consumer electronics goods. The convergence of digital-based audio, video and wireless technology has resulted in a continuous demand for consumer devices used in home and office.

The Diploma in Digital Entertainment Electronics (DDEE) allows students to acquire technical skills in digital audio and video, display technologies and digital entertainment systems.

Programme Objectives

The Diploma in Digital Entertainment Electronics (DDEE) aims to develop you into a knowledgeable and enterprising young professional who is able to apply your skills to the demands of the industry. You will be adept in the art of problem solving and will be an effective learner in the ever-evolving arena of this high-tech industry.

The programme will provide a well-rounded education comprising both technical know-how and general capabilities. Discipline and specialisation-specific modules will equip your with a solid understanding of the theory behind how things work. General modules will help them prepare the ground for innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, as well as train you in communication and lifelong learning skills.

Career Prospects

The course will address the manpower needs of companies engaged in the fields of consumer electronics and entertainment systems. DDEE graduates can look forward to excellent career prospects and ample opportunities in the fast-growing consumer electronics sector, communication and electronic industries. They can be employed as assistant or associate engineers in diverse areas such as product design and development, equipment testing, technical marketing, applications support, and manufacturing.

 

 

Further Studies

 

Graduates may also choose to pursue further education and to this end, all our diploma programmes are designed to meet the requirements for advanced standing in local and overseas Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs).

 

You can pursue an electrical or electronics degree at local universities (National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Institute of Management University) or at overseas universities such as University of Glasgow (UK), Australian National University (Australia), University of Newcastle (Australia).


Through the Singapore Institute of Technology, you can pursue a B. Sc in Electrical Engineering & Information Technology from the Technical University of Munich (Germany) or a B. Sc in Real Time Interactive Simulation/Game Design from DigiPen Institute of Technology (US).


Besides engineering degrees, you are also eligible to apply for non-engineering (eg. Business-related degree courses) courses from local and overseas universities.
