About the Programme
The electronics industry continues to be a
significant contributor to Singapore's economy,
fueled by rising demand for electronics
products, gadgets and mobile devices. Locally
and
globally, electronics and computer industries are
burgeoning in size and number.
The Diploma in
Communications & Automation Electronics (DCAE)
was designed to cater to the increasing demand
for graduates equipped with
electronics design and development skills.
There
are two specialisation
tracks under this programme. These are:

Automation Technologies
• Wireless Communications

Automation Technologies Specialization
Automation Technologies is a specialized option that
will
provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills
in the areas of sensors, actuators, programmable
logic controllers, power electronics and robotics. This
option focuses on the integrated use of electronics,
electrical and computer technologies in the control
and automation of systems, machines and devices.

Wireless Communications Specialization
Wireless Communications is a specialised option that aims to provide you with
practical knowledge of wireless systems, digital
communications and cellular systems. You will learn
the various core and supporting technologies
enabling wireless communications.
Programme Aims
This
DCAE aims to groom knowledgeable and
enterprising young professionals who will apply
their skills to the demands of industry. They will
be adept in the art of problem solving and remain
effective learners in the ever-evolving arena of the
high-tech industries.
The
programme will provide a well-rounded education
comprising both technical know-how and general
capabilities.
Discipline and specialisation-specific modules will
equip our graduates with a solid understanding of
electronics theory. General modules will ground them in innovation,
creativity, entrepreneurship, as well as train
them in communication and life-long learning skills.
Your
Future Career
DCAE graduates can look forward to
excellent career prospects and ample opportunities in
the electronics, biomedical instrumentation and
computer industries. They can be employed as assistant
or associate engineers in diverse areas such as
product design and development, equipment testing,
technical marketing, applications support, and
manufacturing.
Graduates may also
choose to pursue further education and to this end,
all our diploma programmes are designed to meet the
requirements for advanced standing in local and
overseas Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs).
