There are 3 types of Core modules: General, Discipline-specific and Specialisation-specific modules.
General modules aim to help you prepare the ground for generic skills such as cognitive, linguistic, entrepreneurial and personal development skills, as well as equip you with the foundational knowledge of culture and technical communication.
Discipline-specific modules focus on developing your knowledge of Information Technology while specialisation-specific modules are designed to deepen your understanding of core business functions and how IT serves the needs of the business.
You also need to take a number of Electives modules offered by the School of ICT, besides the Core modules. Elective modules for DBIS are designed for your selection to broaden your Business skills and/or your understanding of the growing field of ICT, and to complement your knowledge acquired from other parts of the programme.
Students are free to choose 1 module from any school and centre at Republic Polytechnic.
