Introduction : About the Programme

Today, businesses and organisations rely more than ever on information systems to compete and succeed. So there is a critical need for highly-trained professionals who
can match the requirements of business with the latest in IT.

In its Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015) masterplan for IT development, the Singapore Infocomm Development Authority has highlighted the need for more people in higher value-added activities, such as business solutioning, enterprise applications and IT Services. This new Diploma prepares young professionals for these key fields. It is the first diploma program in Singapore with such focus on Information Systems.

Programme Aims

The programme trains students in areas ranging from IT and business fundamentals, through business process modelling and IT project management. Students will have extensive hands-on access to software, from industry giants such as Oracle and SAP, in fields such as human resource management, finance and accounting, sales and marketing. They will learn using a problem-based approach and take on projects that are based on IT issues faced in the real business world.

Through their learning and experience in DBIS, graduates will acquire a mix of business and IT skills and understanding they can use in their work to bring together IT software, hardware and services to serve the company.

Your Future Career

Graduates will be equipped with the technical skills, business knowledge and project management capabilities to become a leader in tomorrow’s competitive business environment. Graduates of DBIS may enter careers as:

  • Information systems specialists
  • IT or IS sales/pre-sales consultants
  • Business development executives in IT consulting and software vendor organisations
