Diploma in IT Service Management (R23)

About the Programme
In today’s global economy, businesses need to rely on Information Technology (IT) services to perform more effectively, so as to respond quickly to the ever-changing conditions in the market.

The Diploma in IT Service Management is designed to develop students to be IT professionals who are able to blend customer and project management skills seamlessly. The programme will build a strong grounding in technology, and its various applications in enhancing the performance of IT in businesses. Students will also learn how IT services can be best delivered to businesses based on well-established global practices and processes.

Programme Objectives
  • Experience and understand quality service management within the IT industry through hands-on exposure in the IT Service Management Practice Laboratory, which is equipped with industry-leading BMC Remedy software.
  • Acquire knowledge in implementing, operating and managing IT effectively.
  • Learn how to model, design, operate and implement IT processes and services through applying a globally-recognised body of knowledge, such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Train students in vital project management techniques and client/customer management skills.
Career Prospects
Exciting job opportunities and career growth await graduates in the field of IT services. These roles include planning, designing and improving IT services. Graduates can become project executives, service desk professionals, IT delivery and service engineers, as well as business and client managers. Graduates will also possess the necessary skills and knowledge to take up positions such as software engineers, web developers and IT/e-business consultants in the IT industry.

Graduates may choose to pursue further education and to this end, all School of Information and Communications Technology (SIT) diploma programmes are designed to meet the requirements for entry with advanced standing in local and overseas universities for relevant degree programmes. Advanced Pathway to Monash University

Republic Polytechnic collaborates with Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology to offer graduates an accelerated pathway to the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems in Monash University, Australia.

This advanced pathway allows students to be awarded up to maximum of 96 credit points (16 units) when they apply for admission to the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems program at the Australia and Malaysia campuses of Monash University. They may potentially progress to the third year of study in Monash University.

The students must fulfil the following criteria to qualify for this advanced articulation:

  • Achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Completed 3 additional modules as prescribed by Monash University, at the time of application.
