Diploma in IT Service Management (R23)

About the Programme

In today’s fast-moving world, businesses need to rely on Information Technology (IT) services to perform more effectively, so that they can respond quickly to the ever-changing conditions in the market. This is the only diploma programme offered in Singapore which focuses on preparing graduates for this huge IT Services industry.

The programme will develop students to be IT professionals who are able to blend customer and project management skills seamlessly. They will also get a strong grounding in technology, to enhance the performance of IT in businesses. Knowledge of IT Service Management, a hallmark of the diploma, will provide students with insights on how IT services can be best delivered to businesses based on well-established global practices and processes.

Programme Objectives

Through hands-on exposure in the IT Service Management Practice Laboratory, which is equipped with industry-leading BMC Remedy software, students will directly experience what quality service management within the IT industry is about. The programme enables students to acquire knowledge in implementing, operating and managing IT effectively, so they can provide quality IT services to businesses.

Students will not only obtain a strong foundation in IT technologies but will also learn how to model, design, operate and implement IT processes and services through applying a globally recognised body of knowledge, such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). They will learn vital project management techniques and client/customer management skills as well.

Career Prospects
Exciting job opportunities and career growth await graduates in the field of IT services. These roles range from planning and designing to implementing and the continual improvement of IT services, either within a company or IT service provider. Graduates can become project executives, service desk professionals, IT delivery and service engineers, as well as business and client managers. Graduates will also possess the necessary skills and knowledge to take up positions such as software engineers, web developers and IT/e-business consultants in the IT industry.
Further Studies
Graduates may choose to pursue further education and to this end, all SIT diploma programmes are designed to meet the requirements for entry with advanced standing in local and overseas universities for relevant degree programmes. The Diploma in IT Service Management is designed to meet the requirements for advanced standing in local and overseas Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in courses related to IT, Information Systems and Computer Engineering.

Advanced Pathway for DSM Graduates
Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology and Republic Polytechnic’s School of Information and Communications Technology (SIT) have collaborated to offer DSM graduates an accelerated pathway to the Bachelor of IT and Systems (BITS) Monash University.

This Advanced Pathway allows students to go directly to the final year of the BITS programme, upon successfully completed additional modules as prescribed by Monash University Faculty of Information Technology.
