Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management (R27)

About the Programme

The Sports and Leisure industry is a burgeoning sector and is quickly becoming an integral part of the culture and lifestyle of communities. The increasing number of local and international sports events held in Singapore, together with the government’s drive to promote the leisure industry, has created a demand for the trained and experienced people to stage such programmes successfully.

Programme Objectives
The Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management (DSLM) programme will provide you with opportunities to develop a set of core and specific skills to be active contributors in this growing industry. DSLM will provide you with specialised knowledge and skills in developing both local and international sports initiatives and leisure programmes.
Career Prospects

Graduates can seek careers in many areas within sports and leisure enterprises. These include: Singapore Sports Council; National Sports Associations; sports marketing; sports athlete and events representation and agencies; events management companies; sports public relations; sports retails shops (e.g. nutrition stores, apparel stores); fitness equipment and supplies companies; sports and leisure promotion service providers; private sports coaching schools; sports service providers (outsourced partners with SSC and schools), resorts, marinas, golf and country clubs, social clubs, fitness and gyms, health and wellness centres, sports clubs in organisations (including those whose focus is in workplace health promotion), specialists in the MICE industry (planning and promotions, marketing and organisers), cruise operations, grassroots organisations, community clubs and so on.

Graduates, who wish to pursue further education, must demonstrate academic competence and apply for advanced standings in local and overseas Institutes of Higher Learning. Students have the opportunity to gain direct admission to prestigious universities such as University of Ulster and University of Sterling. They can gain a degree via direct entry to final year with universities such as Northumbria University as well as University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.
