Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management

Graduation Criteria

In order to graduate with a Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality  Management, you must satisfy the modular criteria set by the Centre for Innovation & Enterprise. Students should be able to do this within three years of enrolment, if they successfully complete five modules, or its equivalent, per semester.

How the Modular Structure Works

Modules at RP fall into three broad categories: as can be seen from the course structure. These consist of Core modules, Elective modules, and Freely Chosen modules. To satisfy the requirements of the Diploma, you must select a certain number of modules out of the range offered in each category. These are summarised in the following table:

Core Modules

Year 1
covers common core broad-based modules such as Cognitive Process and Problem Solving, Communication Practice, Enterprise Skills, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Financial Accounting, Basic Sciences, and Mathematics.

Year 2
focuses on core-discipline modules such as Economics, Strategic Thinking Skills, Service Quality and Professional Etiquette, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Rooms Division Management, Food & Beverage Management, Culinary Science and Kitchen Operations, Hospitality Information Systems and Hospitality Practicum

Year 3
allows students to focus on core-specialisation modules as well as elective modules from specialised domain areas in hospitality management such as Hospitality Revenue Management, MICE, Tourism and Travel Management, Attractions Management, Industry Immersion Program, Human Resource Management, Management Accounting and Resorts and Cruise Management.

Elective Modules

Apart from the Core modules, you also need to take a number of Electives offered by the School. Elective modules are designed to broaden your understanding of the growing field, and to complement knowledge acquired in other parts of the programme.

Freely Chosen Modules

One of the 30 modules you will take in total can be freely chosen from the entire range of modules offered at RP.
