Diploma in Design for Interactivity

The Diploma in Design for Interactivity programme aims to leverage on the opportunities emerging from cross-disciplinary research targeted by Singapore’s Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council (RIEC), an initiative of the National Research Foundation (NRF), in both local and global enterprises.

The course structure is designed to realize the following outcomes:

  • Innovative practices in content generation – examining the interconnectivity between new inventions, improvements of existing products and/or services, and directorship of interactive experiences.

  • Broaden and deepen the scope of interactivity to encompass the cognitive and social processes, and cultural influences within day-to-day living, to grasp narrative structures found in everyday experiences, and to apply those observations to future product/service innovations.

  • Examine the paradigm of human interaction with different systems of information storage and retrieval, transportation, time and energy management, law and policy making, environmental and economic sustainability, and civic and military architecture.

  • Stimulate the adoption of creative approaches to bridge interactions between humanities and sciences.

More About the Programme

The focus for DDI is the first of its kind in the IHL sector. It reflects current trends in Interactive and Digital Media, and fills creative gaps in manpower needs as identified by industry players. Modules crafted offer a balanced mix of technology, technique and game philosophy, and reinforce STA’s mission of producing the hybrid graduate.

Your Future Career

Opportunities for the developing such interactive experiences to meet the needs of areas such as integrated entertainment resorts, interactive museum tours, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), wearable technologies, locative media, and embedded systems, amongst others, await designers of interactivity.

DDI graduates can look forward to becoming creators and directors of interactive experiences and curatorial talents, who will be empowered to harness the synergy between science, technology and the arts.

Graduates can also pursue further studies in specialist areas of scientific research and art making.
