Diploma in New Media
Introduction : About the Programme
The Creative Cluster (arts and
culture, design, and media) has been observed to
be among the
fastest growing sectors of developed economies
such as those of the United Kingdom and the United
States. In Singapore, the creative industry contributes
3% of the gross domestic product, and the Singapore
Government’s plan is to double that contribution
to 6% by 2012.
As detailed in such industry-specific blueprints
as Renaissance City 2.0, Design Singapore, and
Media 21, it is the Government’s vision to
develop Singapore into a global city of excellence
for the arts, culture, media and design.
Republic Polytechnic’s School of Technology
for the Arts (STA) will not merely support Singapore’s
nascent Creative Industries economy. STA intends
to help build the Creative Industries by venturing
into territory that is as yet unexplored. The Diploma
in New Media (DNM) is RP’s first contribution
to the turning of Singapore into a truly global
media and arts centre
