Q: Is there a limit to the number of applications I can make?
A: There is no limit to the number of programmes one may apply. However, an applicant can only select a single programme upon receiving the offer of acceptance from the Polytechnic should there be a clash in dates of the programmes applied.

Q: When must I make payment?
A: The applicant is requested to make payment of the course fee upon acceptance of the offer from the Polytechnic. The applicant is enrolled in the programme upon payment of course fees before course commencement. Instructions guide on how to make online payment is available

Q: Am I eligible for any funding for the programmes?
A: For Advanced Diploma or Specialist Diploma, Singaporeans /
Permanent Residents (PR) may enjoy the Ministry of Education (MOE) course
subsidy if they meet the following funding criteria: With effect from 1 April
2011, Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents will pay 15% and 40%
of the course fees respectively (subject to revision). Singapore Citizens who
pursue subsequent Advanced or Specialist Diploma course will pay 30% of the
course fees, provided that five years or more have lapsed since they completed
and graduated from their previous Advanced or Specialist Diploma programmes.
For Executive Programmes (short programmes), persons sponsored
by their employers or self-help group for courses funded by the Skills
Development Fund (SDF) must attain a minimum attendance of 75% in the course and
attempt all assessments to be eligible for funding failing which the employer or
self-help group is liable to forfeit the SDF grant and bear full course fees.

Q: What are the entry requirements?
A: Republic Polytechnic (RP) recognises all qualifications, of the
relevant level of certification required for each CET programme,
from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) registered with the
Ministry of Education (MOE). All other qualifications are reviewed
on a case-by-case basis by the RP school/centre conducting the CET
programme. A Polytechnic Diploma is the basic entry criteria to all
Advanced Diploma and Specialist Diploma programmes. The conducting
School/Centre reserves the right to introduce entry requirements
over and on top of that stated above as approved by the Senate, CET
Board of Examiners (CET-BOE) or other relevant bodies.
Q: What must I bring on the first day of my class?
A: The student may be called upon to produce his/her original Degree/Diploma, certificates, results slips and other relevant documents on the first day of the programme for verification of his/her fulfilment of the course entry criteria. Students who knowingly violate the course entry criteria shall be withdrawn from the programme with no refund of course fee.
Q: Can I withdraw from a course?
A: Applicants who wish to withdraw from the course after registration shall submit a
Withdrawal Application Form to the Polytechnic. Applicants shall settle all outstanding bills with the Polytechnic prior to withdrawal.
Applicants who withdraw at least 2 weeks before course commencement shall receive a full refund of the course fee less $50 administrative charges payable upon submission of the Withdrawal Application Form. There is strictly no refund to persons who withdraw less than 2 weeks before course commencement.
Q: Can I defer from a course?
A: Students who wish to defer in the duration of a course/module shall submit a
Deferment Application Form to the Polytechnic. Application for deferment shall be due to valid reasons only, e.g. overseas postings or on medical grounds, and is subjected to approval by the Director, Centre for Professional Development. Application for deferment is also subjected to the availability of a subsequent intake of the course/module. Students who defer are liable to pay the new course/module fee in the event where fee revisions are made.
Students who submit the Deferment Application Form before course/module commencement shall pay an administrative charge of $50 payable upon submission of the Deferment Application Form. Students who submit the Deferment Application Form on or after course/module commencement shall pay the full course (pro-rated based on full course fee without grant)/module fee.
Q: Am I eligible for a refund?
A: Applicants who withdraw at least 2 weeks before course commencement shall receive a full refund of the course fee less $50 administrative charges payable upon submission of the withdrawal application form. There is strictly no refund to persons who withdraw less than 2 weeks before course commencement.

Q: How do I appeal to review my module results? (for certifiable programmes only)
A: Students are to submit a request for review of the module grade
within 5 working days after the release of the results. This appeal
for a module grade change by a student must be made through the
completion of a written form, obtainable either online or at RP’s
One-Stop Centre. An administrative fee of $25 (excluding GST) per
module would be charged to the student, payable at One-Stop Centre
at the same time when the student submits the written form. This fee
will be refunded to the student if the appeal is justified and
approved. Once the module grade is reviewed, the students must
accept the review findings, even if it is found to be lower than the
original grade. No further appeals will be entertained thereafter.
Q: What is the minimum attendance required?
A: To ensure the rigour of the programme is adequately applied, a minimum attendance of 80% is compulsory failing which the student is ineligible to be awarded the relevant certification.
Q: What must I know about student conduct?
A:
- No smoking in the Polytechnic, in Admiralty Park, on all roads, sidewalks, bus stops and overhead bridges around the Polytechnic, and in the area bounded by Woodlands Avenue 2, Woodlands Avenue 9 and Woodlands Street 81.
- Behave with propriety at all times, that is, no disrespectful behaviour or insubordination to facilitators or any other officers of the Polytechnic including security officers.
- Always carry with you your Student Card.
- Do not drink or eat in the class / laboratory / workshop / library.
- Students are to be decently attired in a manner that conforms to social and moral norms.
- Do not sport hair in outrageous colours.
- Do not wear sleeveless T-shirts, singlets and shorts (except at sports activities).
- Do not wear any form of dress which may be improper, indecent or offensive.
- Do not wear slippers.
- Veil or purdah is not allowed on campus.
- Students attending workshops / laboratories must wear proper attire and shoes.
- Always comply with industrial safety rules as directed by the facilitator.
Q: Are the facilities in RP available for my use if I sign up as a student?
A: Students may use library and wireless internet facilities free of charge. Prevailing rates apply for use of all other facilities in the Polytechnic. Terms and conditions apply.
