The
Republic Polytechnic Science Congress 2010
The Republic Polytechnic Science Congress 2010 was held
on 8th January 2010 to serve as a platform for polytechnic and secondary
school students to share their enthusiasm for science and exchange ideas on
scientific topics of their interest.
The event was flagged off by Professor Sir George Radda
CBE FRS (Chairman, Singapore Bioimaging Consortium, A*STAR & Chairman,
Biomedical Research Council, A*STAR) who delivered the keynote address
highlighting developments in biological imaging throughout the 20th
century.
There was a poster competition at the Congress which represented a unique
opportunity for all students to showcase their prowess in the field of
scientific research and acquaint themselves with research projects
undertaken by other schools in Singapore.
A
panel of distinguished speakers from industry and academia presented their
areas of scientific interest and addressed questions from the audience on
the theme of “Discovering the Scientist in Me”.

100,000 Plastic Bottles
Challenge
With key objective
of recycling waste material and encouraging a reduction of use of plastic
bottles, the 100,000 Plastic Bottles Challenge event aims to raise and
strengthen the awareness of the importance of recycling and also to
encourage a reduction of use of plastic bottles amongst the youths and
secondary school students.
