|
The RP-AMD Carnival started on 10th May 2005 at The Plaza to commemorate the official opening of the AMD DIY @ RP lab. Our principal, Prof Low Teck Seng and the Managing Director of AMD Singapore were invited to launch the opening of the lab which will be situated at Belvedere Block A (BA2-9).
During the launch, students were treated to an AMD video presentation which featured their latest processor. They also caught a glimpse of the limited-edition Ferrari laptop from Acer. There was also free food for everyone. The grand finale was a DIY PC competition where 4 teams tried their best to assemble a fully functional PC in the shortest possible time. The winning team walked away with 2 AMD processors worth over $200 each courtesy of AMD Singapore.
A series of DIY PC workshops will also be organized as part of the RP-AMD Carnival. It aims to raise awareness amongst students on how they can actually assemble their very own PC. This way, students will get to personalize their PCs based on their requirements. The workshop will last for a total of 4 hours and will span over 2 days. Students will be given 2 DA points upon the successful completion of the workshop. There will be 4 of such workshops every academic year. Details of the next workshop will be made known to students via email.
