by 8 Drama mamas of Drama.republic…
How does a local polytechnic add spice to something
as sanitized as the Ministry of Health’s Healthy
Lifestyle Week? Well, leave it in the hands of 8
drama mamas and you get DiSARSter Kit, the first
mini drama performance by the Republic’s resident
Drama interest group.
The skit derived its monicker from “the SARS
Kit” which Singaporeans became all too familiar
with between the months of March and July this year.
Instead of thermometers, surgical masks and Vitamin
C in the original Sars kits given out by the authorities,
this DiSARSter Kit was home to an unhygienic, nose-digging
Prata man, a paranoid old lady wielding aerosol disinfectant
and a sassy newsreader warning about the possible
recurrence of the killer flu.
Staged at the Annexe Hall during lunchtime on 25th
of September and after school on the 26th, the maiden
skit by Drama.republic held about 100 audience members
captive for two days. DiSARSter Kit was a suitably
light appetizer before staff members Aldrin Ho and
Dr Jim Tan delivered the main courses: talks which
centered on keeping up healthy lifestyles.
