Part I
After Professor Low and Ms
Rajah delivered their speeches, Ms Rajah was invited to unveil a painting of
Republic Polytechnic’s Tanglin Campus with Professor Low. This painting,
completed by renowned watercolour artist, Mr Ong Kim Seng, was unveiled to
gasps of marvel and awe amongst the audience. Ms Rajah was later presented
with a copy of the painting by Professor Low, as a keepsake of RP and its
Tanglin Campus.
Next, guests and audience sat
back and enjoyed a video clip featuring RP’s milestones. The 6-minute video was
well-received by the audience/staff, many of whom were surprised to see
themselves in some of the pictures included in the clip.
With formalities out of the
way, guests were made to “loosen up” and enjoy the rest of the evening
with
performances put up by RP’s performing Interest Groups (IGs). The Judo IG
kick-started the show with some impressive Judo moves. RP’s Magicians from the
Magic IG then took over the stage and successfully suspended a paper rose in
mid-air. Next, RP’s malay cultural dance group Tarian presented the audience
with a graceful rendition of their ethnic mask dance. The Social Dance IG stood
by for the finale by demonstrating their groovy dance moves along to the
once-popular “Itsy Bitsy Tinny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and other tunes.
