2nd Temasek Invitational POL-ITE Dragonboat Race

Republic Polytechnic's (RP) dragonboat team participated in the 2nd Temasek Invitational POL-ITE Dragonboat Race on 17 June 2006. Our students participated in the Men’s 20-crew POL-ITE 500 m race and the Women’s 10-crew POL-ITE 500 m race.

Overcoming obstacles, the men’s 20-crew team was engaged in a tough fight with the other polytechnics and the combined ITE team. They managed to clinch the 4th placing. It was a good showing nevertheless against the more experienced polytechnic teams.

The women’s 10-crew POL-ITE race was next. It was the first race of the newly formed RP "female dragons" and our girls were really looking forward to their debut in the dragonboat arena. Up against experienced teams such as Ngee Ann, Nanyang and Temasek Polytechnic, our girls did not crumble under pressure. They had put in a lot of effort, hard work and sacrifices in training for this event.

The RP female dragons wore a strong façade, and were not intimidated by their aggressive and experienced opponents. Finally, with their sheer determination and excellent teamwork, the team clinched the 3rd placing.

Thumbs up for RP's Dragonboat team!

The RP Dragons are now preparing for the upcoming Singapore Dragon Boat Festival 2006 on 1-2 July. They will be participating in the National Championship (Men), National Championship (Women), Tertiary Open (Men), Tertiary Open (Mixed) and Tertiary Open (Women). All the best to them!
