Republic Polytechnic’s Open House 2007 was held at its Woodlands Campus from Saturday to Tuesday, 13-16 January 07.
While Open House in 2006 was mainly held in the Republic Polytechnic Centre (RPC), this year’s Open House was the first time that our entire campus was fully ready to receive visitors, with The Republic Cultural Centre (TRCC) being recently completed.
Our Guest of Honour, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, who is the MP for Sembawang GRC, made an appearance on the first day to officially declare RP Open House 07 open.

Prof Low Teck Seng, RP Principal, was present with Mr Tay Kheng Tiong, the OH07’s chairman, to lead Dr Lim on a tour around the Agora before heading to RPC for a light lunch reception.
Our theme this year was “Explore, Experience, Excel” and our schools, centres, Interest Groups (IGs) and Office of Student
and Graduate Affairs (OSG) took to this theme with enthusiasm and zest.
Activities took place throughout the Promenade and Agora, with stations all uniquely decorated and displaying their specialties to best capture the visitors’ attention.
Relentless rain over the four days did not dampen our spirits as our students and staff continued manning the stations and kept the stage activities going with performances by various IGs and even our own facilitators!
Our emcees did a great job in keeping the energy and fun up, entertaining those manning the stations and even giving out Samsung notebooks and MPH vouchers to visitors.
There were also activities happening in the Halls – Scientific Thinking Program, Robotics, Ecocity and LAN Gaming – to appeal to visitors and secondary school students who came in busloads on Monday and Tuesday.

Lucky draws were held at the end of each day, with goodies like Samsung mp3 players, an Aztech home system, MPH vouchers and RP thumb drives being given out to the winners.
An excellent start to the year as RP received 12 000 visitors over the four days! Thanks to all the Schools and Centres who contributed their time and energy to make RP’s Open House 2007 a resounding success!
