On 3
June 2007, the Social Dance IG clinched its first ever trophy for Republic
Polytechnic at Groove’s “So You Think You Can Dance?” competition. It was a
night to dance and let your hair down. However, our team was worried about the
strong competitors that may come from the rest of the participants. Still
undaunted by that fact, we encouraged each other knowing that we will at least
walk away with the experience that is worth more than anything.
As the time for
our performance got nearer, we got prepared. Once the music started, there was
no turning back. We danced and put in the best that we had.
It was a
nerve-wrecking moment as they started to give out the results. Our team and
supporters cheered out loudly when it was announced that RP won 3rd
place. It was a turning point for all of us as it was really unexpected. All our
hard work and hours of practice paid off. We were ecstatic as we did not
disappoint all those who put their faith and confidence in us.
Congratulations
to the team consisting of Chia Boon Juay, Florina Oo, Yessita Azeharie, Tim Kiew
Ji Cai, Ng Hui Ling Angelia, Peh Chee Wei, Alice Hong and Alice Chen.
Our
team would also like to thank our advisors Kwai Fong and Karen as well as our
instructor Firhana Alsagoff for their immerse support and guidance.
