Republic Polytechnic Indian Cultural Group (RPICG) has done
RP proud again by clinching the Challenge Trophy at OLI’s Campus Challenge
2007. This is a prestigious national level competition by Singapore’s only
Tamil radio channel, OLI 96.8 FM. This is another challenge trophy win for
ICG along with the fact that it is the reigning champions (2005 & 2006) of
AARATHANA (a prestigious all arts competition organized by Ngee Ann
Polytechnic).

RPICG kicked off the OLI Campus Challenge by walking away
victoriously through the tough audition rounds held at Woodlands Civic Centre,
judged by DJ’s of OLI 96.8 FM. RPICG’s dance groups R-Factorz, Shavaz, stand up
comedian Asher Dinesh and singer’s won the hearts of the judges with their
stunning performance.
After rigorous weeks of preparation, juggling both practice
and studies, RPICG showcased their talents vibrantly at the finals held at
Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre on the 28th of July 2007.They competed
against various tertiary institutes in Singapore.

Skills and perfection were displayed by our dancers, singers
and comedian as the audience and judges were swept off their feet by our
outstanding talents! Roars of cheers poured in from the waves of supporters from
RP and from audience present there.
RPICG’s R-Factors and Shavaz set the heat on stage with their
dazzling dance performances, our singers mesmerized the audience and judges with
their melodic rendition of South Indian hits and our comedian almost got the
audience off their seat s by making them laugh till they teared! With
enthusiasm, we gave our blood, sweat and tears for RPICG to lift another
challenge trophy as a team!

R-Factors (placed 2nd): Mohana (DBC Year 1), Ganaesh
(DBMS Year 3), Surendren (DBME Year 2) and Yudish.J (DIOM Year 3).
Shavaz (placed 4th): Shamini (DBMS Year 2), Shaheeda (DBA
Year 2), Rahimah (DNM Year 2), Kothavalli (DBA Year 2).
Comedian (Champion): Asher Dinesh (DAA Year 1).
Singers (Consolation): Kalaivani (DBMS Year 2),
Priyadharshini (DNM Year 1), Mishalini (DBIO Year 1) and Surendran (DIDM Year
1).

Well done ICG! We have just crossed another milestone; we
have more victories to come our way. We have just started to roar, a roar that
will bring us more honour and victory! The Indian Cultural Group would like to
