Dragonboat IG took part in the SAVA Sprints International ’07 over the last weekend.

This is an annual event organized by SAVA Pte Ltd to promote dragon boating in Singapore. It has become a very well established event after all these years, with over 60 teams (both local and international) taking part in this year’s event.
The race was held at the scenic Upper Seletar Reservoir.

Our mixed team (boat 1) approaching the finishing line.

Besides the usual local powerhouses NUS and NTU, a team from the Philippines also joined in the fray this time as SAVA Sprints is an international open race. The Filipinos clinched the gold medals for the Men and Mixed categories for both 500m and 200m.
It was a good experience for our team, being pitted against
such strong opposition. Although RP did not win medals in the Grand Finals
of the categories we took part in, we did manage to come in Champion for 2
Plate Finals.
