Directed by Alejandro Iglesias Rossi, the ensemble brings us a novel acoustic experience playing Pre-columbian indigenous instruments from Latin America, the Andes, the Amazonas and Mesoamerica (Mexico and Central America). Exclusive in this one-night-only concert, the ensemble will offer us a non-traditional take on music in this spiritually uplifting performance.

Singapore’s first gamelan festival, jointly organized by Republic Poly’s Cultural Centre (TRCC) and Singapore’s pioneer gamelan ensemble, Gamelan Asmaradana, will take place from 20th – 22nd Nov 2007. Be immersed in all styles of gamelan in this exciting 3-day event. Featuring seminars and workshops by local and regional experts as well as performances by students, community and professional groups, this event will have something for everyone. The theme for this year’s festival is Sekaran and will tell the story of the growth and flowering of gamelan music in Singapore.

After critically acclaimed stints in the UK, Spain, and Germany, the T’ang
Quartet returns to Singapore with a performance at the Republic Polytechnic that
will not only encompass the local view on culture, but, embrace the global
perspective.
This unique programme will feature classical chamber works that were inspired
by cultures of countries as far-flung and disparate as Azerbaijan, Africa,
China, and Europe.
4. ‘-Revelations-’ by Maya Dance Theatre, Gamelan Asmaradana & RP’s Modern and Indian Dance Groups

5. ‘-Odyssey-’ by RP’s Malay Cultural Group

Bringing together the various Malay art forms – Seni Tari (Dance), Silat (Art of
Self Defence), Dikir Barat and Sastera (Literature) – Republic Polytechnic’s
Malay Cultural Group will take you on a man’s journey in search of his identity.
Odyssey will highlight the nature of each art form to reflect man’s soul
and true emotions. Be enthralled by the grace and energy of the performance.
