It was a hot weekend as RP Dragons made their way to the “miniature” straits of Jurong Lake. Right next to the fabled Chinese Garden, the 5-Crew Dragon Boat Championship 2007 saw an overwhelming 99 teams competing for 8 titles. This race is organized by the Singapore Dragon Boat Association as one of the events for the Waterfest
Singapore ‘07.

The novelty of this championship is, as its name implies, 5-crew rowing on a 10-crew dragon boat, where the coxswain double up as a paddler, using his paddle instead of a rudder to steer the boat while paddling.
Teams came from all walks of life, ranging from secondary schools, institutes of higher learning to National Servicemen and business corporations. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education & Second Minister for Finance, Member of Parliament for Jurong GRC graced this event.
RP Dragons gave a strong fight and hauled their biggest win ever – 3 golds and 2 bronzes! Most importantly, they showed true sportsmanship and team spirit.
Following are the race results of the events that RP took part in:
1st in Event No. 1: National Championship (Men) - Plate Final
1st in Event No. 8: Teritary (Women) - Final
1st in Event No. 9: Teritary (Men) - Final
