Proud parents lined up at the reception counter to be escorted into the lecture theatre;
they witnessed their children’s hard work and stellar academic performance at Republic Polytechnic.
Held on 20 October 2007, the annual academic awards ceremony celebrated students who have excelled academically. The criterions were stringent. Diploma-based and module-based awards were based on cumulative GPA, Module Raw Score, Daily Grades and Understanding Tests. Scholarships and bursaries were also given out. In total, 183 awards were given out to deserving students.

Mr. Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Manpower, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, graced the event. He said, “Republic Polytechnic has done well with its student-centred approach to learning which has contributed to its students’ success. With RP’s nurturing environment, students become well-rounded individuals who have taken up leadership roles, participated in Interest and Student Groups, as well as contributed to the community.”

A Max Lewis Scholarship recipient, Jelisa Lin, agreed. She said, “Having an Interest Group can be time consuming but I cannot deny that it has brought me far and I have benefited a lot from it.”
She summed it up, “When there’s a will, there’s a way.”
