The 2nd
Traditional Wushu Inter-Varsity
Championship was held on 20 October 2007. Participating
pugilists represented seven tertiary institutions, namely Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), Republic Polytechnic (RP), National University of
Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), ITE (Macpherson), ITE (Simei)
and Kaplan University.
On the morning of the
competition, the air at the Singapore Polytechnic Sports Hall was filled with
tension as spectators cheered for their respective
institutions. The competitive events for
this championship
included traditional southern fist, long fist, animal form fist, short
weapon, long weapon and sparring.
It was a fruitful day for Wushu.Republic as our student, Chng Chin Ling (SHL), clinched gold and bronze medals in both events he
participated in. He impressed the judges by performing his traditional southern
fist “Xiao Fu Wu” and short weapon “Shuang Bi Shou” with daggers. Congratulations Chin Ling!
As the event drew to a
close, competitors from the various institutions smiled with pride as they
received their medals.
Our
achievement in this competition has greatly boosted the morale of our members.
We would like to thank Create/TRCC for their support of the Wushu Interest Group
(IG) as our achievement would not have been possible without them.
We
hope to do even better next year to bring glory to RP. Wushu.Republic - With
