On 30
November 2007, students gathered fervently at The Republic Cultural Centre (TRCC)
in their creatively designed “mafia” costumes, all geared up and ready to cheer
for the Flame Award recipients. Our staff and student ambassadors played their
usher roles well and showed guests to their seats.
The
Guests-of-Honour, Mr Eden Liew (Deputy Principal, RP), Dr Victor Valbuena
(Director, School of Technology for the Arts) and Mr Ganesh Kalyanam (Director,
TRCC) were there to grace the event.
The Flame
Awards celebrates service and performance excellence amongst our Interest Groups
and each year, we recognise the best student talents we have. A total of 78
awards were given out to students from Club: G, Create and Helicon, who have
shown remarkable dedication and service to the development of their IGs. We hope
that these students will maintain their burning passion for their chosen art
form, and leave their legacy for juniors and other members.
After
the prize-giving ceremony, RP’s stylish Hip Hop IG performed on stage and
won cheers and applauses from the audience. A sumptuous dinner awaited all
at the end of the ceremony. Everyone chomped to their hearts’
delight.
It was an engaging and entertaining night. The award
recipients walked away with pride and glory as they embraced trophies in their
arms. Congratulations to all award recipients!Till we meet again next year at
the Flame Awards 2008.
