Supply Chain Trends Talk Attracts DSCM & DIOM Students

A “Supply Chain Trends Talk” event was held at Republic Polytechnic on 16th November 2007. The event was graced by Mr. Koh Juay Meng, President of Supply Chain Council, South East Asia Chapter. He was influential in the expansion of the Chapter seven years ago. Currently, Mr Koh pilots the council while also holding the position of Managing Director of Accu-Sort Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. Some of Mr Koh’s many responsibilities include accounting for the sales and marketing of Auto-ID products, and supply chain management.

The engaging talk by Mr. Koh addressed the issue of trends in supply chain. Participants included second and third year Industrial Operation Management and Supply Chain Management students from RP. Our students were interested and enthusiastic about the study of supply chain trends both locally and regionally.

During the talk, Mr. Koh offered personal anecdotes of his experiences and encounters in his extensive travels during the course of his work. Towards the end, a question and answer session was open to the floor. Students took the opportunity to raise as many questions as they could to equip themselves with valuable knowledge needed in the industry.

It was a rewarding experience for our students. Through the “Supply Chain Trends Talk” event, they gained valuable insight into how the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model functions. This talk has prepared students on what to expect in local and regional supply chain industries.
