The Children from Sunlove |

While most of us were enjoying the weekend with our family and friends, a group of students from Service-Learning Club and Rotaract Club spent their Saturday morning with some children, aged 8 to 12 on a trip to the Singapore Science Centre on 1st December 2007.
Children were divided into groups of four which are accompanied by 3 volunteers upon their arrival at the Center. The excitement and eagerness was clearly shown on everyone’s faces and it was certainly hard to contain their enthusiasm as they set off in their groups. Throughout the 2-hour long activities, our children and students visited the various interactive exhibitions in the center such as the Genome, Space Science Exhibition etc.
This outing was initiated by our students who wanted to help these children enrich their knowledge in science & technology and also to allow them to make their own discoveries though various interactive activities. This activity has given them a chance to develop new skills and different perspectives. The hands-on experience they gained has also helped them connect ideas beyond the classroom.
Through this collaboration with Sunlove, Service-Learning Club and Rotaract Club hope to encourage the children to learn through different means – how each of us can play an active part in our learning while nurturing future Singaporeans to learn creatively in science and technology.
