The Youth in Touch tournament held on 12th July, included schools that would go head to head with RP this coming POL-ITE, competing for the championship at the same time.
RP Phoenix, the development squad, fell short of making the semifinals after winning Temasek Polytechnic in the group draw. They performed well under the circumstances that they were rookies to the game. The main team, RP Pixies, cruised through the pools against schools such as Nanyang Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic. RP defeats Nanyang Polytechnic, 6:1; RP defeats Temasek Polytechnic, 9-0; RP defeats Singapore Polytechnic, 8-0
Teamwork and constant encouragement spurred RP on despite the heat. Winning by a small margin was not what the team was looking for; instead, the satisfaction of achieving something greater technically and mentally in preparation for POL-ITE had served as a motivation platform to ace in the tournament.
