The RP Wushu IG took part in the prestigious National Wushu Championship for the third time and clinched 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. The event was held at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall from 13th – 17th August which saw participants from organizations island-wide.
Ching Ying Qing, who is wholly trained by RP, clinched silver medals in the Men’s compulsory Spear Routine (with 29 contestants) and in the Straight-sword Routine (with 25 contestants). Ying Qing also clinched a bronze medal in the Men’s compulsory Long-fist Routine (with 26 contestants). Zhao WenDi, our first year student, also impressed the judges by performing his compulsory Broadsword and Cudgel Routines and emerged with an impressive 4th placing for each of the events.
The rest of the students from the IG had also put on an impressive display of skills as they competed with Wushu veterans and the athletes from the National Team. They are Chng Chin Ling, Leow Jun Heng, Lee Yong Khim, How Wei Liang, Lai Cun Lai, Chong Mei Ying, Foo Qi Wang Ronald, Heng Zi Hao Reuel, Muhammad Noor Halim B Ismail, Yew Kok Hoe, Lister Tan Lin Jing, Heng Meng Yeow and Low Jian Min Benjamin. This competition has been a great learning experience for our students who took part.
We would like to thank our advisor, Dr Simon Chang and our Coach, Xue Xing Fu for their invaluable guidance and devotion. The RP Wushu IG would also like to thank TRCC/Create, OSG and OES for their continuing support, as our achievement would not have been possible without them.
Our achievements in this event have greatly motivated and boosted the morale of our IG members. We hope to do even better to bring glory to RP in future.
