This year’s POLITE water polo was one of the most competitive and toughest games that were ever held. Hosted by Singapore Polytechnic (SP) from 21st to 25th October, the winners were chosen on a point scoring basis. Republic Polytechnic’s
(RP) first match against SP was quite gruelling in the first quarter but
subsequently, RP was leading with 21-7.
The second
match between RP and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) was quite a challenge where RP won by
one goal with a score of 15-14. In fact, RP scored just a few minutes before the
end of the game and TP could not equate the score despite much efforts. It was
a sad match for some of the TP players as some headed home in tears.
RP
also had our sad moments during our third match against Ngee Ann Polytechnic
where RP was defeated 11-7. It was a rough match for some of the first year
students, Malik Senaratna, Jonger Chua, Vibrant Lee and Alexander James.
Nevertheless, it
was indeed an unforgettable experience for everyone.
Our last and
final game versus Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) was the toughest of all. The final
score was a very close 7-6, which was won by the NYP water polo
team. It was just less than 10 seconds in the final quarter of the game when Shaun Ong attempted to score a goal
in spite of facing a few NYP defenders. Unfortunately, he
missed the goal by inches.
The ranking
of schools are as follows:
-
Nee Ann Polytechnic

-
Nanyang Polytechnic 2nd

-
