POL-ITE Road Race Championships 08/09 was held on 19th November at Nanyang Polytechnic. Our Republic Polytechnic (RP) long-distance athletes persevered through Nanyang Polytechnic’s challenging POL-ITE route stretching 4.8km and 5.2km, for the Female and Male category respectively. This year’s POL-ITE saw an ante-up from last year’s competition; old rivals meet again, while freshmen battle to forge a name at the competition. Yet RP athletes pushed through, winning the Champions in the Female Team Category and 3rd placing in the Male Team Category!

Besides winning in the Team Category, our athletes also claimed victory in the Individual Female
and Male categories. Facing strong competition, our athletes put their physical and mental states to the test, to claim their individual titles. Only the top 6 from the Female and Male Individual categories were crowned and we are proud to say that RP athletes are amongst the Crème De la Crème at POL-ITE! In the Male Individual Category, Chua Chin Yang came in 2nd, even after facing extremely fierce competition.

Overall, our RP long-distance athletes have performed excellently at the
championships and it is certain that the hard work and dedication they have put into their training have paid off. Each of them has contributed to the success of RP at POL-ITE this year. Without their effort and time, this moment would not have been realised. We would also like to show our gratitude to our coach, Mr Lim Kien Mau, who invested his precious time in grooming and preparing us to reach our goal. For without his guidance, RP Athletics would not have reached this pinnacle!
